Steamed Pudding How-To

Making a steamed pudding may sound intimidating and time-consuming, but we are here to show you just how easy it really is. By following our basic step-by-step instructions, you will be able to cook this most impressive of desserts that is as tasty as it is simple to prepare.

You will need:

4-cup stainless-steel steam pudding mould
Baking spray
Rubber spatula
Premade steamed pudding batter
Aluminum foil
Dishcloth
Roasting pan
Large glass measuring cup or pitcher
Hot water
Knife
Serving dish
Caramel sauce
Garnish: figs

Step 1: Thoroughly spray a 4-cup stainless-steel steam pudding mould with baking spray, making sure to coat inside of mould entirely. This will ensure pudding will come out cleanly from mould, once it is baked.

Step 2: Using a rubber spatula, scoop premade batter into mould, lightly packing batter as you fill to 1 inch from top of mould. Cover mould with lid, or cover tightly with aluminum foil.

Step 3: Place mould on top of a dishcloth in a roasting pan. Using a large glass measuring cup or pitcher, pour hot water into pan to halfway up sides of mould.

Step 4: Transfer roasting pan with hot water and batter-filled mould to oven preheated to 350°.

Step 5: Bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours, or until set.

Step 6: Carefully remove roasting pan from oven, and allow water in pan to cool completely.

Step 7: Remove mould from water bath.

Step 8: Run a knife around edges of mould to loosen pudding.

Step 9: Place a serving dish over mould, and invert onto dish.

We recommend serving pudding warm, with caramel sauce. Garnish with figs, if desired.

Now that you have seen how easy it is to make a steamed pudding, wow friends and family at your next gathering with this delicious dessert.
