Throughout history, Great Britain has bestowed upon the world many literary luminaries, with some of the most notable poets of the Romantic age among them. The homes where these men penned their memorable verses still stand in testament to their talents. Best known for his narrative poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade,” Alfred, Lord Tennyson lived at Farringford in the Freshwater area of the Isle of Wight from 1853 until his passing in 1892. Though it evinces Georgian-style architecture, the house bears many Gothic features, including arched windows and castellated parapets.
