Not long after Beverly bought the land that would become Tangled Garden, she watched the 1993 adaptation of the film The Secret Garden. “The scene where the robin perches on the stone wall and the viewer sees the garden for the first time triggered a memory from my childhood, when I saw, an older, black-and-white version of the same movie in my nana’s parlor,” she explains. “It’s entirely possible that for all these years, I have been subconsciously re-creating a secret and magical garden for that little girl to live and play in.”
