To Have and to Hold

To Have and to HoldTo protect the silver from tarnishing, Courtney advises collectors to enclose the boxes behind glass, as too much polishing can fade any engravings over time. These inscriptions are often the only way to verify the item’s origin, though some pieces are unmarked, and others still were engraved for personal reasons long after their original use. Although much of the provenance of sterling ring boxes remains a mystery, Courtney fervently researches in libraries and online forums, aiming to spread her knowledge to antiques lovers around the world.
