Like a lovingly wrapped gift, antique boxes beckon with entrancing exteriors featuring brass scrollwork, hand-painted floral motifs, and elaborate marquetry. Occasionally filled with timeworn accessories that hint of their past lives, the interiors can be every bit as delightful.
Ah, I remember this issue very well and this article was of particular delight !
I also have a small collection of mahogany boxes – mostly with ash inlay work. Nothing to the level of those pictured above, but they add so much charm and warmth to my home. Not to mention, a great way to store small items which don’t get lost or disturbed .
God bless !

Collecting Boxes is one of my many hobbies. I relate it to the many times my family moved when I was a child. No matter how much “Stuff” we had, it was always moved because it was special to us and the way we could stay connected to old friends, past homes and neighborhood and relatives. As a result, I have developed a program about my favorite boxes and how they became special.
I have a collection of boxes that I use for practical purposes. They are wonderful at hiding items that are often used, but not a pleasure to see. I have these beautiful boxes all over my home, whereverI have things that I need to use but that I want to keep hidden; Phone chargers, remote controls etc in the living room, feminine products in the restroom, make up supplies on the counter. Their uses are endless
