Romantic Castles of the United Kingdom

Undulating across the slopes of Leicestershire, in the East Midlands of England, the formal gardens at Belvoir Castle—ancestral home to the dukes of Rutland for nearly a millennium—reflect a heritage of faithful cultivation. Lauded Edwardian architect Harold Ainsworth Peto designed the hilltop oasis, and each duchess in the lineage has added her influence to the picturesque setting.

  1. Although I would prefer a modest cottage in the Cotswolds over a large castle or Manor house, I must admit there is an aspect of this grandeur that is both exciting and awe-inspiring. The sheer size and well thought out plans for each and every need to be met is really a feat deserving of our applause !

The beautiful interiors with the luxurious woods, fabrics, and paintings are simply breathtaking. No one does this quite like the English and much of this is in evidence with the gardens alone. Spectacular !

    God bless !
