In the southeastern corner of the Keystone State, just an hour from the bustling metropolis of Philadelphia, there is a pocket of prettiness set within the scenic Brandywine Valley known today as Longwood Gardens. Originally a family farm with a 15-acre arboretum, the wooded property was slated to be cut down for its timber when noted American businessman Pierre du Pont saved it from the saw.
