Founded by Danish-American educators in 1911, the community encircles the property of Old Mission Santa Inés, which predates the town by a century and adds just a hint of Spanish culture. Beyond the mission’s adobe walls are half-timbered structures, thatched roofs, and four eye-catching windmills, reminiscent of the ones dotting Denmark’s scenic countryside.
