Vermont-resident Emily von Trapp says, “I am fortunate to be the third generation [of my family] to cultivate the land where I grow my flowers.” The great-granddaughter of Maria and Georg von Trapp, whose story was the basis for the classic film The Sound of Music, Emily grew up helping at her parents’ former business, von Trapp Greenhouse in Waitsfield, which fostered a lifelong love of horticulture. By age twelve, she was selling bouquets of cut flowers to local markets, eventually segueing that venture into her current company, von Trapp Flowers.
