The Goodspeed Opera House, in East Haddam, is a professional musical theatre recognized for both its architecture and its quality performances. The Victorian-style landmark—still the tallest wooden structure on the banks of the Connecticut River—was built in 1876 and was beautifully restored to its original glory in 1963. The Tony Award–winning venue showcases new and newly revived productions during its April-to-December season.
