This time of year often makes us sentimental, and that was certainly the case with Father Tim in 2021 Writer-in-Residence Jan Karon’s Shepherds Abiding. Among his tender recollections was his mother’s favorite holiday confection, bûche de Noël, which young Timothy called “boose Noel.” What are some of your favorite recipes to make at Thanksgiving and Christmas?

My daughter in law, Stephanie learned from her grandmother how to make peanut butter balls and we’ve made these nearly every year for more than 20 years.  Some years we were joined by other family members, one year the three grandkids were in the dining room with my sons doing gingerbread houses while we ladies made hundreds of these confections in the kitchen.

They have been at the center of a lot of family times but always have been an absolute bonding between Stephanie and myself.

We always make our late maternal grandmother's old fashion stuffing for Thanksgiving.
