Elisa Marshall never felt the pressure to choose a single career path or pursue a solitary passion. Her detail-oriented nature and creative spirit propelled her into a life of fashion marketing, wedding planning, and, eventually, to managing a top event venue and restaurant in Ibiza with her partner, Ben Sormonte. Finding themselves back in The City That Never Sleeps in 2014, dreams of a cozy hideaway—in stark contrast to the metropolis’s modern haunts—and memories of their childhoods in Canada and France led the duo to open an effortless yet elegant café and pâtisserie, Maman, as an ode to their cherished caregivers and biggest supporters: their mothers.
