Taiwan native Judy Jou has always had a high sense of determination and a love for fashion and fabrics. Those qualities led her to undergraduate degrees in art and costume design from Northwestern, a master’s degree in fine arts from UCLA, and a career in the theater realm that precisely suited her perfectionist drive. Later, she fed her creative side by sewing a wardrobe for the baby she was expecting—which ultimately became the children’s clothing brand EleStory, the name hearkening to a song her beloved late mother used to sing her in their native tongue.

“You have to believe that you have something to offer the world that will make it better.” —Judy Jou
