A Sense of PlaceJames and his team became involved at the beginning of construction—which is his preference—so every space could be planned to perfection to fit the owners’ needs. “Although this is a new home, the idea for it to feel like a renovation was a constant thread,” says James. “Traditional materials found in older Southern homes became our go-to for resources.” With that in mind, some walls are covered in knotty pine to complement the rustic setting of the property, while others are clad in grass cloth or painted in wainscoting.
