A Royal Respite: The Isle of Anglesey

Royal

The interior has been kept much the same as it was when the present Lord and Lady Anglesey occupied the entire mansion. The bedroom of Lord Anglesey contains a generations-old canopied bed; his personal effects and jacket remain in place at the bedside desk.

Although the stately home became a National Trust property in 1976, Lord Anglesey, the 7th Marquess, and Lady Anglesey still maintain their residence in a portion of the house, further contributing to the air of authenticity and aristocracy that infuses Plas Newydd.
